Environmental, Social, and Governance Principles

BWC Terminals believes environmental, social, and governance (“ESG”) factors are critical to our on-going business opportunities and ability to effectively manage risk. Therefore, we seek to evaluate, respond, and monitor our environmental impact as well as our relationships with employees, customers, and the communities where we operate. Our ESG principles are integral to our daily operations and are the foundation of our long-term strategic objectives. Our core ESG oriented principles include, among others

We are committed to providing the highest level of stewardship for our employees, customers, communities, and stakeholders through safe and innovative solutions, supported by our Core Values. To this end, we hold ourselves accountable through direct reporting and monitoring to permanent standing committees of our Board of Directors. This committee actively works with management to formulate, implement, monitor, and discharge our ESG Principles. Below are examples of how we implement ESG principles in our everyday business.

Environmental
We prioritize and protect the environment and believe safety is essential in everything we do by:
  • complying with environmental, health, and safety regulations;
  • implementing policies, procedures, and programs designed to prevent safety incidents;
  • utilizing best practices for conservation of natural resources in operations and growth projects to minimize our carbon footprint and our impact on climate change;
  • promoting continuous environmental and safety improvement; and
  • training of our workforce to ensure their understanding of all applicable policies and procedures.
Social
We make a positive impact in our communities by:

  • encouraging and promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion across our organization and communities;

  • supporting our communities through volunteering, mentoring, and project support; and

Governance
We hold ourselves accountable and support each other through a foundation of honesty, trust, and respect by:
  • mandating adherence to our Code of Conduct and Ethics principles;
  • acting responsibly and seeking to support sustainability across our operations;
  • maintaining an independent board and committees abiding by a transparent decision-making process across the Company;
  • continuing to evaluate and update our internal policies and procedures based on the most current regulations and best practices; and
  • exceeding our customers’ expectations by listening, responding promptly, and anticipating their needs.
